Episode 4: Cardiac care during pregnancy
432093 – 16/04/2024
In the fourth and last podcast of the 'Facts in Cardiology-series', doctor Els Troost zooms in on cardiac problems during pregnancy.
A lot of haemodynamic changes will set in during pregnancy. These are mainly volume overload. The vast majority of pregnant women will not be particularly affected, not even those with a known cardiac underlying problem. Attention should be paid to pre-pregnancy counselling of patients with cardiac disease such as valve disease. It is recommended that women who have problems during pregnancy also be followed up cardiologically afterwards.
